This Morning – ITV January 2011
Girls, please join me in a big thank you to Georgia Flower who very bravely went on national television in January   2011    on
ITV's This Morning programme. She took part in an awareness campaign to share and educate on the subject of Trichotillomania (TTM). Georgia is 3 years pull free even while studying for 6 A-Levels! She is a remarkable and beautiful young girl who had the courage to speak out for and on behalf of all of those women who live with TTM every day of their lives. These women are bright, beautiful and sensitive and it is imperative that more knowledge of the symptoms and repercussions of hair pulling are highlighted. TTM is extraordinarily hard to deal with and how amazing it is to see for ourselves that recovery is not just a possibility but truly real. Well done to Georgia.

Spring is on its way!
Spring is on its way believe it or not! This is the time when many girls want to uplift their hair as they see daffodils and daisies popping up with the first warm rays of the spring sunshine. For those of you fancying a change of style, length or colour, please ask to chat to a stylist when you are next in. It may also be worth looking in magazines for inspiration and images. There are lots of wonderful style  magazines out there such as
Hair & Beauty, Blonde Hair, Hair Ideas, Hairstyles Only and many more fantastic publications. If  you need   any    advice
let us know. If you want to speak to me personally, schedule a meeting through reception so that we can have a chat going forward to something new and exciting.

Message from Lucinda
 Dear Girls

I would love to share a wonderful story with you. As you may be aware, many of the girls who come to us are suffering  from the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The story I want to share with you is of an astonishing young woman who had just been given the terrible news she had to face having a total mastectomy. Her first thoughts were that she didn’t want to share this with any of her friends, but only with close family members. One of her main considerations was how she would manage her hair and pull off the fact she was going to loose every single strand of it as a consequence of the chemotherapy. Together with her husband, we discussed the management of her hair throughout the treatment. For me, it was a great advantage seeing how she wore her hair while she had a full head of it. We discussed her options and I suggested that she went to Trendco in Kensington and found a wig that matched her hair colour and to take some photographs, which in due course is what she did. As soon as her hair was gone, she went into a matching wig. I styled the wig to her current look and length. As time went by (25 weeks to be precise) her hair started to regrow and change colour. A date was set in the diary and it was all systems go for her new Intralace System™ which we were able to match to her previous look perfectly – and my goodness she looked and felt wonderful! As time passed her hair regrew and we were able to reduce the Intralace System™ and introduce hair extensions, ready for the swop over. During this entire period she looked the same and her hair was beautiful.
I met up with her in the Client Lounge and she shared her story with some of us who were gathered there. As we listened to her words I think everyone of us was touched by what she said. She told us that coming here had helped her recovery as it was an integral part of her healing and important for her to maintain her identity. This beautiful woman never told a soul, and went through the   whole treatment  displaying great tenacity, strength and courage. I  am  blessed to be able to share, in  part,
her healing process and to this day whenever I think of her I am humbled and honoured that she came to me. Just to witness how she handled her whole situation has been one of the biggest inspirations of my life and I hope for anybody going through the same thing, just knowing that this is even possible, is an inspiration to you too.

Much love
