Message from Lucinda Ellery
We are so excited and proud to have opened our new Studio in Edinburgh on Tuesday 16th October. We now have a fabulous Studio to look after our Scottish ladies. I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits to Edinburgh – what a beautiful city, and I look forward to spending   more    and
more time there. We have already had a very positive response and many of you ladies have already booked your consultation to see me so I can’t wait to meet you all. We have lots of clients from Scotland that have up until now travelled to either our London or Manchester Studio to have their appointments so they are understandably delighted that we can now look after them in Edinburgh.

Star letter
Once again I thank you all for our lovely letters and cards; they mean so much to me, in fact to all of us. Our client Helen has been coming to us for 8 years and I received this wonderful letter from her that I wanted to share with you all.
“I first read about Lucinda and how she can help women with hair loss some 8 years ago. I was very intrigued by the article that I had read, but it was some months later that I made the phone call      to     book     a
consultation with her at the London salon. Lucinda was and is amazing and we clicked straight away. She made me feel so special and explained what she can do to help me. Here was a wonderful caring person that understood what it was like to lose your hair at a young age and all the stigma that goes with it, because Lucinda had been through this herself. I was like a child in a sweet shop and wanted my new look there and then. I got my appointment the following week and I have never looked back.
I was 21 and had just had my first daughter when I noticed the front of my hair was thinning, it was like a large coin shape right at the front. I had been to see my GP who said it was due to my hormones etc and it would get worse but then it would get better and told to go away and not think about it. Easier said than done as we all know, but I tried and it didn’t happen.

In fact it got worse so I went back and this time I was sent for blood tests but again I was told it would come back and nothing was wrong! No-one apart from Lucinda has explained my hair loss to me, I have inherited my hair loss from my dad’s side and it skipped a generation and caught up with me, my sisters being luckier than me.
I have never worn a wig but I have used all the thickening agents and hair make-up to try and put back what is no longer there, and come rain or shine I always carried an umbrella with me. On holidays abroad, my baseball cap stayed firmly on my head all day, until I was back in the hotel room.
I went for an interview when I was in my early thirties, and was called back for the second interview by the manager who had interviewed me previously. I was going to be on the front desk so I was customer facing, I was ok with this. Then the ‘can I ask you a personal question?’ I knew straight away what he was going to ask me, and yes was I ill or something as my hair was very thin......Needless to say I ended the interview and have felt very awkward at others I have attended and knew I didn’t get the job because my lack of hair embarrassed those people. Over the years I have been so fed up and upset and annoyed at people who judge you because you have thin hair, they talk to your scalp and not to you, then to me they were not worth bothering with.
Now, I do not have that problem! I feel very lucky to have found about Lucinda, to have met her and her lovely family and her wonderful staff that work so hard making women like me and us feel and look great and amazing, thank you all. I recently celebrated a special birthday and everyone commented on how well I looked.
Thank you so much Lucinda and I still get emotional every time I see you!

Helen

Lucinda Ellery in the Press
We have had a huge amount of interest from the Press over the last few weeks to include New magazine, Now magazine, The Daily Express, Womans Own and the Daily Mirror. We would like to thank all our clients that took part in the   different magazine   and   newspaper
articles.

We have had many ladies that have now contacted us as they were inspired by our clients’ stories and how fabulous they look and how they feel so much better with their new hair! You can see all of these articles on our website to include our client Rachel’s story in Womans Own. Here is Rachel's story as featured in Womans Own.
As a new mum, I could not have felt happier. Here I was with my precious baby girl, Alana. I already had a gorgeous son, Zak, two, and a terrific husband, Tom, as well as a lovely home. I enjoyed juggling Alana’s routine with caring for Zak.
Then one night, when Alana was three months old, I came down from settling the children and saw Tom staring out of the window. I was about to ask what he wanted for supper when he suddenly said, ‘I don’t love you anymore. I’ve seen a solicitor and I want a divorce.’
I couldn’t speak for shock. Then I pleaded for him to explain but Tom just got up, packed a bag and went. When the door closed after him, I broke down sobbing.
It was January 1998 and we’d been married for three years. How could he have left me, and how was I supposed to care for the children on my own? For the next few weeks, I ran on autopilot. Then the fog of my despair began to clear, I hired an au pair and got a job working with young offenders.

One day, getting ready for work, I noticed that my shoulder-length hair seemed thinner on top than normal. I brushed it the other way and put it out of my mind. Life carried on. It was hard but I learnt to cope. A year later, I even fell in love
again. Simon, then 24, was a colleague and we both got on so well, and the kids adored him too. In 2002 we married and had a daughter, Izabel in 2004, followed by Joshua 16 months later, before moving from Surry to Somerset.
Everything seemed to be going well but one night, glancing through old photos, I realized just how much my hair had thinned. My scalp was now showing through in ugly patches. Deeply self conscious, I started wearing hats when I went out. ‘You’re beautiful’, Simon kept reassuring me, but I definitely didn’t feel it. A woman’s femininity is wrapped up in her hair, and mine was disappearing.
I went to see my GP, who explained hair loss can be triggered by shock and I thought back to when I’d first noticed it thinning, after Tom had left. ‘But I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do,’ the doctor said. Disappointment thudded deep in my stomach. I was now so self-aware it was
crippling my life. Then, in April 2009, my mum phoned to tell me to watch a TV program about a woman who, like me, had suffered hair loss and had been fitted with a revolutionary new form of extensions.
As I started at her new, thicker hair, hope rose inside me. ‘I want to give them a try’, I told Simon.
The extensions had been done at the Lucinda Ellery Hair Loss Consultancy clinic in London. So three months later, I travelled to meet Lucinda, who explained how the extensions were made of real hair and would be woven through a fine mesh attached to my scalp.
Six weeks later, I had them put in. The process took nine hours and cost £1,800, which I paid for with my savings.
When I saw the finished results, I was shocked – having so much hair felt odd. But back home, Simon and the children reassured me I looked great and gradually I got used to my new appearance.
Now, I love my hair, It’s totally transformed my life, and made me feel confident again.
I can wash and style it myself but the extensions need checking every six weeks, which costs more than £2,000 a year. They also need replacing every two years. The cost worries me, but Simon says he thinks of it as just another household bill. Because thanks to the extensions, he’s got his wife back. Finally I’m happy again.
