Word from Lucinda
To say that we were inundated with 100’s upon 100’s upon 100’s of cards and presents for Christmas is the understatement of the century. Not only do I thank you so much for them from all of us, but
I thank you for the beautiful words that you took the time to write to us. I intend to make a great big giant board full of your comments which will be on display in reception. Don’t hold your breath as I have to go backwards and forwards from London, Manchester to Los Angeles but it will be up before 2012 draws to a close.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you on behalf of my staff for all your wonderful gifts. We do have the most kind, the most generous, the most thoughtful, most fabulous, most amazing, the most glamorous and the most gorgeous clients in the whole wide world and beyond! We are so so so so so so lucky.
Press Articles
There has been lots of recent interest from the Media about the services we offer at Lucinda Ellery. Our client Julia was featured in an article in January’s Prima Magazine and our client India was interviewed for a piece in “That’s Life magazine”. We also took part in a fun
show for Sky Living called “Bigger than Cheryl” which involved some lucky ladies having makeovers to help them look like Cheryl Cole. India took part in the awareness campaign for TTM on ITV on Wednesday, 13 February 2012 - so well done.
Sarah Vine, The Times Beauty Editor wrote in her column about our medi connections and how they can help someone with fine hair.
Lucinda was featured in February’s edition of Woman and Home Magazine. The article was called “The Hair Fairy”, and here follows an extract from that article, a full copy of which is available to read on our website:

“You can’t underestimate the power of hair and the significance of hair loss for a woman. Hair is connected to our sexuality, femininity and health. If you wake up with half your hair on your pillow, it shocks you. It feels pathetic, sobbing to your doctor, but how can you carry on? A Yale University study found that we primarily make up our minds about one another within three seconds, based on hair.”
Star Letter
This month I received a letter that took 3 goes and a box of tissues to get through. This amazing husband has given me permission to share its contents with you. I feel the sentiment truly conveys how meaningful, as girls, our hair is to us and how valuable the work we all do is and how glad I am to be part of the joy we bring even if there are times of great sadness too.
I am not sure if you met her but my wife was a client at your London salon. I think she may have met one of your sons and your daughter. She was fighting secondary breast cancer and her hair had started to grow back following completion of a gruelling chemotherapy regime. Having wo wigs for many months she was faced with the dilemma of whether to ditch them or continue with them until her own hair had grown more.
Then she heard about the treatment you offered through a friend at our son’s school and she contacted your London salon. They were able to give her a new head of hair of which she was justifiably proud. Once again she retued to the vivacious, lovely and inspiring person she always had been.
Unfortunately, my wife had to undergo further chemotherapy and, as a result, between Christmas and New Year her own hair began  to fall  out   in clumps and

the system your team had fitted came loose, so I had to cut her hair to remove the system, a very traumatic event for us both.
We had a holiday planned in Austria for New Year and my wife had to revert to her wigs as your offices were unfortunately closed between Christmas and New Year so she was not able to contact anyone to see if anything could be done.
Tragically, my wife died whilst we were in Austria of a brain haemorrhage brought on, I believe, by her cancer and the associated treatment. She leaves behind myself and four sons of whom she was justifiably proud.
Once I was back in the UK I contacted your London salon to enquire as to whether it would be possible to tidy up my wife’s hair system so that it could be fitted on her body as she loved the hair so much.
Your team and, in particular, Miriam and Rebecca, were absolutely fantastic! They treated me with so much kindness and generosity I was overwhelmed. Please pass on my sincerest thanks to everyone involved in granting one of my wife’s final wishes to be seen once again with her beautiful hair.
Whilst we were on our holiday my wife pointed out to me that you had a two page article in the February 2012 edition of Woman & Home. She was so proud of her hair and your company she told everyone in our party about it! Since retuing home I have read the article properly and I was wondering if in some small way I could help you with your work.
My wife was treated for cancer over a period of nearly six years. During that time she endured a series of itchy wigs provided by a company recommended by the NHS and then some slightly better wigs provided by her own hairdresser but it was only when she had your unique system fitted that she felt confident and comfortable about her hair.
My wife was treated by St Luke's Cancer Centre in The Royal   Surrey  Hospital, Guildford. This   falls,  I believe,

under NHS Surrey previously known as the Surrey Primary Care Trust. As far as I am aware NHS Surrey does not provide funding to patients to visit your salons and I wonder if Sheila's story might help in persuading them to change their mind especially as so many PCT's are already participating. Please let me know if there is anything I can do in this regard.
I am also an experienced business consultant and project manager running my own small company and if you ever need the services of someone like myself to help you plan your company’s development in any area please let me know. I would be more than happy to donate my services in memory of my inspirational wife.
Kindest regards and many, many thanks once again for everything you did for my wife’s quality of life.
Kindest Regards
A grieving husband

Get together
A client suffering from Alopecia is interested to have a get-together with any like minded individuals who have gone through the traumas of hair-loss. This is what Bee had to say...
"I have had an Intralace system since 2005. When I first came to you I had just started my first job coping with all that entails but I also had another thing I was coping with by myself... being a young woman in her mid twenties whose hair is slowly, but undeniably thinning. I had to wash my hair very often, even sometimes twice a day to make it less obvious. I dreaded mirrors. I dreaded spotlights. If I went shopping for new clothes I might spend 1 minute looking in the mirror at the clothes and then 20 minutes sitting on the floor with a hairbrush in my hand trying to brush my hair to disguise my hair loss. I am sure others might identify with me when I say I felt unfeminine, abnormal and very, very unlucky. That year I decided to get an Intralace system. It was such a relief to be liberated from the stress of hair loss from the moment I walked out of the salon with my gorgeous hair. I went straight from the salon to a party, I even remember what I was wearing - a purple dress. This brings me to why I would love to meet some other people with similar conditions. Girls and women who lose their hair go through some difficult times, though we may have come out of the other end with gorgeous new hair and purple dresses. I have some wonderful family and friends who have supported me through the years but I would love to meet other ladies who understand where I have been and where I am today."
If you are interested to join this get together, then please provide your full name and mobile telephone number to our Operations Manager, Hanrie Kolesky. She will pass the details onto Bee who will organise this event on a date yet to be confirmed.

Lucinda's quote of the month: I believe Mark Twain said something along the lines of the following:

"Share with me a person's thoughts today and I will show you their future tomorrows"

Think of these words on a deeper level and you may find the doorway through your thoughts for a better, happier and more prosperous future.

Hugs and kisses,
Lucinda
